Square, Ancona

1985

con E. Guazzoni, A. Monestiroli

The town of Ancona is composed by three parts: the ancient town, the town of the 19th century and the 20th century spread. Each one has its own square that represents it. The three towns are linked by the Seaport-Passetto axis. To design a square nowadays means to confront with this matter: it is necessary to build a place that has a significance in itself and that will get to be become a reference for the whole town. Along this axis, this covered square with its own shape, confronts with the historical and the modern town at one time.
